Lakers VS Heat

So yesterday was probably the most anticipating game of the 2010 NBA season.  Lakers vs Heat. Something like a all-star game with superstars like Wade and Lebron vs Kobe and Gasol. But it wasn't what most people expected. Heat won by almost twenty points. With a rough start of the season they are finally starting to find their rhythm.  They were on a twelve game winning streak but was interrupted by the Dallas Mavs.  Yesterdays game might have been the worst thing to happen for other NBA teams cause that was definitely a confidence boost for the Lebron and the Heat. During the 4th quarter in the game their was trash talking between Kobe and Lebron. I read somewhere that Kobe let LBJ know that he was a Champ after LBJ asked him "what he got for Christmas." LOL  Fuck Kobe BTW and Fuck them Lime green sneakers the Lakers wore last night.

“Most young kings get their heads cut off” Is the title of a painting from the once graffiti artist turned famous painter Jean Michel Basquiat.  I came across it reading Jay Z’s new book “Decoded” which is pretty good so far.  Jay Z has this painting on the wall in one of his homes saying that it’s a reminder to him that when you are on top of your game there are many things that can bring you back down. Drugs, women, jealousy can all be the down fall of anyone, but most definitely celebrities.  He gave examples of a few stars that fell victim.  Also he gave an example of the painter himself whom was found from an overdose at a young age.

I believe this quote can be interpreted in many different ways.  What I got from it is that once you achieve a certain status here in this country and have influence on the people “they” will try to bring you back down or chop your head off (figuratively speaking).

If you pay attention to sports some of the greatest athletes that we have ever seen somehow or another was taken out of their prime. Such athletes as Ali, Tyson, and more recently Michael Vick fall under this category.  You would think that after a certain NFL quarterback was charged of rape not once but twice he’d spend some time in jail and miss a few years out of his career as well…but NOPE. Makes you go hmmm…right?

To make my point more clear the biggest star ever to walk the planet, and may arguably had the biggest death since Jesus Christ had his head chopped off as well.  When I say chopped off I mean the child molestation cases.  After Michael Jackson's death it was sad but at the same time it was like a celebration.  In life as well in death he brought people together.  There wasn’t a stop light you stopped at that wasn’t playing his music and it gave you a good feeling at least it did for me.  With that kind of following and influence made him a target from many angles, I mean people killed themselves when they found out he died! Mike was that serious to some.  But who knows what “Swagger Jackson” had planned on that tour before he died? We do know his last performance that we seen before he died the next day was “They don’t really care about us.” Lol

When Kanye West got on TV and said “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”, I thought his career was over.  It wasn't and we should be glad.  Dude is a musical genius.  Even after all the controversy this latest album will go down in history, nothing has ever been done like it before.  I would go as far as calling it a masterpiece. Lol. But back to the point, Ye doesn’t know how to shut his mouth.  He speaks truth.  No one wants to hear the truth, because it hurts.  This dude has too much influence to talk freely as he always does.  So, he speaks through the music, if you’re listening you can hear it. Lol. And “they” telling us the same guy who had a hit smash talking about Jesus that was played on the radio and in clubs is a ….huh??? Cause “they” said what??  When Ye says "no one man should have all that power" I wonder who he's talking bout?  There’s a message in the music and it’s not devil worshipping. Lol. Peace.

Better Position

What up What up? I hadn't planned for this to be my next post but I'll keep it short.(or at least try to)  What I want to talk about is the large number of black males that aspire to be rappers.  I love hip-hop and I understand that it isn't just rapping it is about expressing ourselves through a way otherwise we would never be heard, in a country where we are not set up to win point.blank.period.  So I understand why so many of us relate to hip-hop cause its what we know. Most people cling to what they can directly relate to. So with that being said, I am not knocking anyone who chooses that path, nothing is impossible in my opinion, this is America. (although they will try to road block you)

The point that I want to make is don't just aspire to be "a rapper" but take it further than that. Jay-Z, Russell Simmons, and 50 cent are in the 100 million dollar club but never had a college degree better yet even went to high school, but through dedication and hard work they some how made it get to the position that they are in.  To make my point what i'm saying to the young dudes who do aspire to take this path in this day and time, have these dudes as examples that it can be done.  We are in a better position because a lot of us have the chance to enroll in colleges to receive the knowledge that these guys didn't have the chance to learn, therefore putting you in a better position and making it easier to understand the business side. In other words just don't aspire to be the rapper but the business man as well, thats where the money is.  And why not read a book a few nights,eat, party and fuck different chics? Peace.

Nazatradamus

What up What up? So more than one person has asked  me about the name "Nazatradamus".  Lol. To clear that up it is a heteronym (?) on the famous prophet Nostradamus from the 1500's who was said to have foreseen well known world events such as the 9/11 attacks.  NO. I don't consider myself to be a prophet, psychic or none of the sort. But, what I do consider myself to be is a visionary. What I mean by that is when I was younger I was a track athlete and before my events I would play the race out in my head, me being ahead of my opponents and at the finish line.  Many pro athletes have been said to do the same thing,  I have since then carried this over into adulthood in different situations throughout life. I picture the outcome in my head over and over until it manifest.  So that is where the name Nazatradamus comes from..and being that my birth name begins with the letters NAZ I thought it fit perfectly. There you have it. Peace.

2010 Resurrection of Hip Hop

In 2006 Nas said Hip Hop was dead. At the time I could not agree more, but in the year of 2010 it is definitely alive and well. Rappers like Jay Electronica, (N.O.) Big K.R.I.T, (MS) J.Cole, (NC) Wale ,(DC) Kid Cudi, (OH) Fashawn (CA) just to name a few, are changing up the game with their clever lyricism. Hip-Hop is definitely taking a turn back to lyricism and straying away from the ring tone rappers and "stanky leg brains" I like to call them.  Hip hop is sounding like it did back in 96-98 as far as lyricism. All in all I guess it is true when they say "history repeats itself." I don't believe Nas would now say that hip hop is dead.  If this is what he wanted for hip hop he has it. It may be time for Nasty Nas to force his way back on to the scene. Although he did a collaboration album (Distant Relatives) earlier this year with Damien Marley; the late Bob Marley's son that was an instant classic imo. But it wasn't recognized as much, I guess because it talked about social politics more heavily than most of us are used to hearing. If you like music that lifts your spirits while burning incenses and cleaning up on a Saturday morning I suggest you cop it.
